This Morning star Holly Willoughby is a forever favourite for a lot of people. As well as the effervescent energy she brings to viewers Monday to Thursday, (hard to maintain first thing on a week day, but she manages it) the 40-year-old has impeccable style and a covetable complexion. So, how does the mum-of-three stay on her A-game?

While Holly is pretty quiet around the specifics of her diet and exercise regime, she is a big fan of holistic practices – from using healing crystals to burning sage. Here are some rituals and routines she has let the world in on, plus how to try them, yourself.

She uses healing crystals

Healing crystals – which are believed, by some, to contain beneficial properties – are often used in more alternative health circles. You might keep a piece of love-enhancing rose quartz in your pocket, for example, or a piece of stress-reducing amethyst on your desk.

Holly has shared multiple snaps of her collection and has spoken about using different stones to purify her home and to give her energy. She has even stated that she used a piece of green fluorite, thought to offer soothing vibes, to help her 6-year-old son, Chester, when he was having nightmares, laying it by his bed.

She’s such a fan of crystals that her co-host, Phillip Schofield, has said that he has started to use them, after Holly sang their praises.

If you want to bring crystals into your life, listen to this episode of the WH podcast, Going For Goal, which fills you in on what you need to know. (Note: there is no scientific basis for using these, but many acolytes say that they find them helpful.)

She makes time for skincare

Holly’s glow is covetable, and her skincare regime features gentle micellar water, to remove make-up, soothing Liz Earle eye creams to de-puff, antioxidant-rich hydration for radiance, plus regular face masks and Caudalie face mists. She uses white sage

Holly is openly into the more alternative side of wellness and posted a video of herself burning white sage to her Instagram page, last autumn.

‘Morning rituals… #whitesage for purification not inhalation before you ask,’ she captioned the post. Burning white sage is a practice which originated with the Native American people and the plant, which is used in sacred acts such as during prayer, is typically found and harvested in California. It is often used to ‘cleanse’ the energy of a space, and is thought to clear negativity.

White sage, it should be noted, is currently being overharvested by non-indigenious people, leading to shortages and sustainability issues. If you would like to take up burning herbs, you might want to look into practices that use more local plants, such as the Celtic tradition of lighting juniper – or, you could grow your own sage.

To use, light your herbs with a match, then, blow the flame out once smoke appears and walk around your space. Make sure you open your windows and never leave anything burning unattended.

She reportedly keeps fit with Pilates

Holly is notoriously quiet about her diet and exercise habits, and once told the Sunday Times magazine that: ‘It’s a personal thing for me, and I think people get obsessive with it…Everybody knows what leads to a healthy lifestyle, but it’s not up to me to give you a blow-by-blow account of what I’ve eaten that day. It’s not helpful, and it’s not what’s important.’

However, Pilates teacher Lynne Robinson went on the record in 2017 to say that she had spent several months working with the presenter in private classes, following the birth of her daughter, Belle, in 2011.

‘Holly had postnatal matt work classes which concentrated on strengthening and toning her core… The exercises help trim the waist and flatten the stomach,’ Robinson told The Sun.

And boxing

A slightly left-field source, but here we are: Holly’s Celebrity Juice co-host, Keith Lemon (AKA Leigh Francis), declared: ‘I’ve heard a rumour that it’s some sort of boxing,’ when asked about the presenter’s keep fit regime.

Another source told the Daily Mail that these sessions comprise shadow boxing, skipping and hitting pads, and that Holly commits to them three times a week.

While this has not been confirmed by Holly herself, boxing is a great way to build strength, up your cardio ability and to improve your coordination. Try a WH boxing workout, if you fancy giving it a go.

6

She enjoys calming morning rituals

While Holly’s weekdays require early mornings, she often shares her mindful weekend first thing rituals, such as enjoying a warming mug of cacao and lighting a candle, as she posted, here. Like you know, little acts of self-care can go a long way in helping you to feel calm, throughout your day. We know what we’re doing, come Saturday.

7

But she doesn’t take things too seriously

Key to Holly’s life is not becoming obsessive over health and fitness. She regularly shares snaps of herself enjoying a slice of pizza, cheese and champagne or a ‘morning after’ McDonald’s haul. ‘I try not to focus too much on my appearance…I’m always one of those people that if you feel happy and healthy that’s all that matters’, she told Prima in 2016.

‘I’m being healthy, that’s good enough for me. I’m quite active and I try not to let the way I look be the main focus because it’s not the important thing.’
