Anthony Barr on the field for the Minnesota Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings missed the playoffs in 2020 in large part because their defense was decimated by injuries. That could happen again this fall, but at least the team will start the 2021 season at full strength.

Chad Graff of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Minnesota had perfect attendance for its first practice of the week.

Despite initial concerns about their healthy, Anthony Barr, Christian Darrisaw and Alexander Mattison were all seen warming up in pads before practice was about to begin.

Barr’s return to the lineup should really help out the Vikings’ defense. He missed nearly the entire 2020 season because of a torn pectoral muscle. When healthy, he’s one of the best outside linebackers in the league.

This is great news for Minnesota, especially since head coach Mike Zimmer stated his concerns about the team’s depth earlier today.

“It’s concerning,” Zimmer said when speaking about the team’s depth. “I feel really good about the top guys, and then some of these young guys got to come on. But when you’re kind of top-heavy with finances, that’s what you’ve got to do.Hopefully we’ll stay healthy, and try to get these younger guys better.”

The Vikings will start the 2021 season on the road against the Bengals. Kickoff is this Sunday at 1 p.m. ET from Paul Brown Stadium.
