Railroad and Main restaurant proposed for Williston’s Finney Crossing
One of Williston’s newest neighborhoods is on track to welcome one of Essex Junction’s newest restaurants: Railroad & Main.
Finney Crossing, just east of Taft Corners, has within the last two years added a Home2Suites by Hilton hotel and a Healthy Living Market & Cafe — among hundreds of recently constructed homes.
The new 4,200-square-foot restaurant would sit between the Hilton and a new “urban park,” according to plans submitted to Williston’s Development Review Board by developers Chris Snyder and Scott Reiley.
Patio dining, some of it covered, is part of the plan.
It’s a spot had been proposed for a Folino’s Pizza and Fiddlehead Brewery (a pairing that works in Shelburne), but those plans fell through during the early stages of the COVID pandemic last year.
No construction timeline has been set for the new Railroad & Main — the project remains in an early review stage by town planners.
If the rest of Finney Crossing serves as an example, groundbreaking will take place sooner, rather than later.
Railroad & Main’s owners, Courtney Roman and her husband, Todd Roman, are fast-movers, too.
The couple shuttered the old and cramped Essex Grill in early 2018 — and re-opened with the new name later that year.
Will the original eatery remain open if plans work out for Williston?
Too early to tell, co-owner Courtney Roman said Friday.
Ongoing staffing shortages and a crazy real estate market complicate long-range planning, Roman added: “Anything could happen.”
