PS5 stock UK – live: Very consoles sell out, Amazon and AO restocks set to follow

The PS5 launched in November 2020, but supply problems and a global shortage of semiconductors have slowed production of Sony’s next-generation console to a crawl. New stock is hard to find, and when it does appear the PS5 sells out fast.

July was a mixed bag for PS5 restocks, but we did get a few healthy drops throughout the month at Very, Smyths Toys, Argos, Amazon and Game. As for August? Well, it’s been phenomenal. So far this month, 15 retailers have dropped stock – several dropping more than once – and we’ve still got eight days to go. We’ve seen everything from John Lewis & Partners, Smyths Toys and Very to Asda, Amazon, ShopTo and Argos. We only got three drops last week – with Game joining the pack – and none yesterday, but six retailers could potentially drop this morning.

Could Argos PS5 stock drop today?

There is an extremely small chance that Argos could drop stock this week, but we’ll take you through the retailer anyway. You know what they say – grab every opportunity by its horns, or whatever the old adage is. If it does drop, expect the console to drop around 8am, any day this week.

Difficulty level: Brutal

Yep, you read that right. Brutal. Sometimes Argos drops stock late at night – around 1am – and sometimes it drops stock at 8am. You never know until you know. People have lost sleep waiting up for an Argos drop. What makes things even worse is that the retailer drops stock on a region by region basis, so you could see one retailer go live before the other and all you can do is bash that refresh button until your fingers and thumbs are sore.

Could Asda drop this week?

Asda is another retailer who had been tipped to drop the PS5 today. The chances of a drop happening now, however, are pretty slim. Drops usually take place between 9am and 10am. That said, Asda does usually only drop stock on a Tuesday or a Wednesday, so we could potentially see a drop tomorrow morning!

Our top tip for Asda is that when the PS5 goes live, try and check out by adding the console to your wish list first and then adding it to your basket. Sometimes it says it is out of stock if you just try and check out from the main landing page. We’ll let you know as soon as stock drops.

When will there be a John Lewis PS5 restock?

While we only had one drop this morning, it was certainly an eventful one thanks to the raucous way Very dropped the stock, and then removed it, before suddenly dropping the consoles again for real about 15 minutes later.

The console has just sold out at Very after a mammoth three hours.

With that drama all done with, we’re back to scanning the stock horizon for drops post-Very. Hello, John Lewis & Partners. Ol John Lewis, lil Johnny Lew-lew, will you have a restock today?

Probably not, looking at the time. JL usually drops stock at 7am in the morning, so we’d recommend getting up a little early on Thursday morning to have a peek at its website. More updates to follow.

The PS5 isn’t the only thing that Very restocked this morning. In amongst the chaos, the retailer also dropped a fresh batch of Xbox series X stock, ending a long ol’ drought for the Microsoft crowd. As the Very PS5 restock trundles on, customers are finally being let through the gates, and are successfully managing to buy the console. This one pleased customer managed to bag the next-gen machine for their daughter, but she’s in a quandary. To tell before or not to tell? That’s the big question. Most people are saying to wait, which we’re inclined to agree with. A happy tear moment.

If you’re still in the queue, keep on waiting. People are still being let in, bit by bit. It does seem like the standalone consoles have sold out now, however. Good luck for anyone still hunting!

Stuck in the Very PS5 waiting room?

As usual, most of us are stuck in Very’s equivalent to the buffering wheel of death – something we like to call the waiting room of doom. The retailer lets customers through in waves, and the doors have only just opened. The main act (Mr. PlayStation Five) is still getting his make-up done and he should, hopefully, be out soon.

Pass around the water everyone. You know what it’s like with these celebrities, they like to keep us waiting. Although we’ve heard that people have begun to be let in.

And now it’s *actually* live! Finally! The PS5 is in stock at Very! The retailer has both the disc edition console (£449.99, Very.co.uk) and digital edition console (£359.99, Very.co.uk) available, as well as bundles. There are reportedly 12,000 consoles in stock, so get cracking!

One option is a PS5 disc edition console with a dualsense controller and a pulse 3D wireless headset for £599.97 (Very.co.uk). We’re still stuck in the waiting room.

Did Very set the PS5 product pages live too early?

Now that was Very strange, Very. We saw the consoles go live with our very own eyes. The product page went up and then BAM – wiped from the internet, and redirected back to the main Very page. Could the retailer have accidentally set the stock to go live a bit too early? Hopefully it will return before 11am today. We’re counting on you, Very, deliver the goods you teased us with!

We’ll let you know as soon as the product pages come back online. Keep watch! But for now… Very is out of stock.

Update: The product pages for the PS5 seem to have been taken down after going up for a hot minute. We’ll update you with more info as it rolls in.

Update 2: Very may be having some backend issues as the PS5s are no longer available to buy from the website.

And it’s here! Very PS5 stock is now live! Very has both the disc and digital edition consoles available, as well as bundles.

According to @PS5StockAlertUK, there are a massive 12,000 consoles available in this drop.

12,000 PS5s set to drop at Very in the next two hours

This one comes from the folks over at @PS5StockAlertUK, who have broken the news that Very will be dropping 12,000 disc and digital edition consoles between 9am and 11am this morning. Be prepared everyone! This is going to be Very’s biggest drop yet if it pans out. The retailer last had a restock on 4 August, but that one only lasted half an hour and there was only one bundle available.

Could AO PS5 stock drop today?

What’s next on the agenda this morning? Ah, AO! It’s the only major retailer still yet to drop stock this month, so we’re waiting in hope that today could finally be the day. AO last had a restock on 28 July and stock only lasted 10 minutes. It’s not a retailer you should be relying on, if we’re honest. The process to getting a console is arduous – with people having to amend the website’s code using the Google element inspector, just to get it into their basket.

AO doesn’t seem to have huge quantities of stock available when there’s a drop, so the PS5s tend to get snapped up quickly. We’ll let you know as soon as it drops the console.

Amazon PS5 stock could drop this morning

We’re going to go through all the rumoured drops before the stock starts rolling in. Amazon is one of the retailers rumoured to drop stock this morning and the avalanche of consoles could arrive anytime now. We do have a few tips for securing stock from the retailer.

The first one isn’t really a tip, more a necessity. You *need* to be a Prime subscriber to buy a PS5 from the online retailer. If you aren’t one, we’d suggest signing up for a 30-day free trial. Here are some other tips:

• Make sure to use Amazon Smile – a separate website that gives a portion of the cost of your purchase toward a chosen charity of your choice. Amazon Smile gets a lot less traffic than the regular Amazon website, so if there are issues, Smile should work better

• Add the console to your wish list and then add it to your basket. We’ve found more success checking out this way

What PS5 stock drops could we see today?

Goooood morning PS5 hunters and welcome to another day of PlayStation 5 stock tracking action. We unfortunately didn’t see any drops yesterday, but today could be a whole different story. Tuesday is usually the day when the action kicks off, and we’re expecting that to be the case this morning.
