Penn State looks to get healthy; Big Ten talk with Brandon Marcello
Penn State reaches its bye week with a 5-1 record and situated seventh in the AP Top 25 poll following a 23-20 loss at No. 2 Iowa. The Nittany Lions encounter a challenging schedule ahead, with three upcoming opponents currently considered top-10 teams, and at this stage any discussion on long-term team potential hinges on the health of quarterback Sean Clifford.
Clifford suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury at Iowa, sidelined for final 47 minutes of game action after Penn State established a 17-3 lead in Kinnick Stadium. The offense imploded without him, placing plenty of emphasis on how Nittany Lions coaches will plan for upcoming matchups if Clifford is questionable or outright unavailable.
That situation and other injury issues are a centerpiece subject on this latest episode of the Lions247 Podcast, while 247Sports national analyst Brandon Marcello joins us to break down the Big Ten and College Football Playoff picture at midseason.
And it’s time for another dive into our Five-Star Mailbag, which addresses preseason expectations versus reality at the midpoint of this Penn State campaign. All are welcome to submit your mailbag questions on Apple Podcasts by giving a five-star review.
You’ll hear all that, and more, in this edition of the Lions247 Podcast. As always, we thank you for listening and look forward to your feedback.
