Patriots’ Cam Newton has strong reaction to his “Madden NFL 21” player rating
New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton didn’t receive a strong player rating in the upcoming “Madden NFL 21” video game, and he doesn’t seem pleased about it.
EA Sports gave the 2015 NFL MVP a 78 overall rating, which is in the lower tier of likely Week 1 starting quarterbacks.

The Patriots posted to Instagram a picture of the team’s highest player ratings from this year’s “Madden” game, and Newton wasn’t included because there are a bunch of players on New England’s roster with a better rating.
The veteran quarterback gave an honest assessment of his rating in the comment section of the post. Check out his reply in the photo below.

It’s hard to blame Newton for having this reaction. He’s one of the top 15 quarterbacks in the league when healthy. Of course, he missed 14 of the Carolina Panthers’ 16 regular season games in 2019 due to injury. But luckily for the 31-year-old veteran, he is healthy again entering the 2020 campaign.
Newton has plenty of bulletin board material to serve as motivation next season, and his lackluster Madden rating is just one of many examples for him to use.
The release date for “Madden NFL 21” is Aug. 25.
