Oregon gets good news on injury front with Anthony Brown and multiple other players
The Oregon Ducks got good news on the injury front days before the No. 3 ranked program opens up Pac-12 play against visiting Arizona. Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal provided positive news with multiple players dealing with injuries and their status for Saturday. Perhaps most impactful is the status of quarterback Anthony Brown.
“He’s good to go,” Cristobal said on if he’s practiced and ready for the week.
Brown left the Stony Brook game at halftime with an injury and didn’t dress or return to the sidelines for the second half of that football game. Oregon played freshman quarterback Ty Thompson in his place. The Ducks should have their starter available for Pac-12 play on Saturday.
Cristobal also noted other players who have dealt with injuries the last few weeks or were hurt against Stony Brook are ready to go for Pac-12 play. That included starting linebacker Mase Funa, starting linebacker Keith Brown, starting offensive tackle Steven Jones, and reserve receiver Troy Franklin.
Linebacker Bradyn Swinson has played in place of injured Kayvon Thibodeaux the first two weeks of the season at an edge position but didn’t suit up against Stony Brook. His availability for Arizona is still being evaluated.
“Swinson is doubtful, questionable. I don’t know what those terms mean. One of the other,” said Cristobal.
As for Thibodeaux, he tried to ask coaches to play him on third-down situations against Stony Brook this past weekend but didn’t suit up and play a snap. Cristobal says he’s getting close to being fully available to play.
“KT is really improving, I’d hate to be kind of out there not knowing, but he’s close,” Cristobal added.

The Ducks are going to be nearly as healthy as they can be going into Arizona. Most of the players who are out with injuries for Arizona include linebacker Justin Flowe, tight end Cam McCormick, linebacker Dru Mathis, linebacker Jackson LaDuke, tight end Patrick Herbert, and running back Sean Dollars. Flowe, McCormick, and Mathis have all suffered injuries in the first two weeks of the season, while LaDuke and Herbert suffered injuries in fall camp. Dollars is rehabbing from an injury suffered in the spring.
“I wouldn’t say we’re at full power, we’re missing a lot of guys that are really good football players,” Cristobal said. “You want guys to practice extensively, because that’s when they are really good. That’s when they bring a lot of value to the table.”
