The Brooklyn Nets danced their way through the regular season despite numerous absences from their star players. After Game 1 against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, Steve Nash may need to maneuver without James Harden for the foreseeable future.

Harden sustained a right hamstring injury just 43 seconds into Saturday’s ballgame and was ruled out for the remainder of the night. According to ESPN’s Malika Andrews, he left the arena during Game 1 to undergo further test and imaging.

As of Sunday morning, no update has been given on Harden’s condition. The Nets are expected to be cautious with their superstar guard but will obviously want to use him, provided he’s healthy enough to play.

Part of the reason why Brooklyn is expected to be cautious is because of Harden’s history with his right hamstring. Just earlier this year, he missed 18 consecutive games with a hamstring strain in the same leg. With that absence in mind, the Nets won’t want to jeopardize their long time future or that of Harden’s just to rush him back onto the court.

Without Harden, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant pulled Brooklyn to a Game 1 victory over the Bucks. On an abysmal shooting night from Milwaukee, the Nets duo combined for 54 points, 15 rebounds add 11 assists. The Nets role players also stepped up big, while the Bucks went 6-of-30 from beyond the arc.

After the Game 1 win, Irving and Durant both weighed in on Harden’s injury in their postgame press conferences and expressed how upset they were for their teammate.

A host of other players, including LeBron James, media members and fans also took to social media to discuss the Harden injury. Overwhelmingly, NBA fans were devastated for the veteran point guard.

Brooklyn’s “Big Three” combined to play just 202 minutes together in the regular season, leading to questions about their chemistry in the postseason. After looking cohesive in round one against the Boston Celtics, the Nets will likely need to rely on Durant, Irving and other role players to step up if they hope to get past the Bucks and into the Eastern Conference Finals.
