National Fitness Campaign bringing outdoor fitness court to St. Lucie County

ST. LUCIE COUNTY— Get ready to work your core, push your limits and feel the burn. An outdoor fitness court is opening here this summer.

The $190,000 project will be built by National Fitness Campaign, a San Francisco company that partners with cities, schools, corporations and design firms to fund and build outdoor fitness courts to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The 1,024-sqaure-foot court will comprise seven stations where people can work on their agility, core and flexibility. The stations — concrete pads overlaid with rubber matting — also allow for stationary, or body weight, movements such as lunges, squats and pull-ups.

The court could be completed as early as July, county officials said.

Workouts at the court, next to the county Regional Parks and Stadiums Division office at Virginia Avenue and 13th Street, can can be completed in less than seven minutes, according to National Fitness Campaign.
