Latest Yankees injury updates: Jonathan Loaisiga, Joey Gallo, Domingo German, Luis Severino, Jameson Taillon
NEW YORK — The Yankees are getting healthier. But will it happen fast enough?
Here are several injury updates as manager Aaron Boone’s team tries to shake off Sunday’s 11-3 loss to the Indians at Yankee Stadium.
Joey Gallo, LF
Injury: Neck tightness
The latest: Boone told reporters that Gallo felt well and was expected to be an option off the bench Sunday. But the Yankees got blown out and Gallo wasn’t needed. It wouldn’t be surprising for the Yankees to have Gallo back in the starting lineup Monday against the Rangers.
Jonathan Loaisiga, RHP
Injury: Right rotator cuff strain
The latest: Pitching coach Matt Blake said Loaisiga will likely take tomorrow off from his throwing program after throwing the last three days. After that, Loaisiga will throw another three consecutive days, and the team hopes he can throw a bullpen session sometime during the series in Boston “and then see how he responds to that, give him another timeline as we get closer to Toronto and Tampa,” Blake said.

Domingo German, RHP
Injury: Right shoulder strain
The latest: Boone said the Yankees could welcome German off the injured list within the next few days and bring him out of the bullpen. German got through Saturday’s rehab assignment outing fine, Boone said.
Luis Severino, RHP
Injury: Tommy John surgery, groin strain, shoulder tightness
The latest: Severino could join the Yankees’ bullpen as early as Monday, Boone said. He threw a two-inning, 35-pitch simulated game on Saturday. He touched 95 mph and his stuff played well, Blake said. “I think we’ve seen him get off the mound enough times and the quality of his stuff was there the other day. The velo was there, the fastball, and the shapes were pretty consistent,” Blake said.
Jameson Taillon, RHP
Injury: Right ankle tendon partial tear
The latest: Taillon could make a rehab start this week, Boone said. He threw a bullpen session on Saturday and did fielding drills. He could throw another bullpen session on Monday. The Yankees hope that Taillon needs just one rehab start.
