Heart Walk participants raise money for research, programs, healthy equity [photos]

With the state of our health so much in the news over the past two years, the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk on Saturday took on extra significance.

The annual walk began at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster.

Dozens of walkers took to the streets of the city as part of the annual effort to raise money for the Heart Association’s programs.

Participants, who chose a 1- or 3-mile course, raised money that the association can use for research, advocacy, CPR training, promoting better health and striving for the 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal of ensuring equitable distribution of health resources.

The monetary goal for this year’s walk was $157,500.

Many walked in memory of those lost to heart attacks and stroke. And others walked to celebrate and enhance their own healthy, active lifestyle.
