With a mostly healthy lineup, the Eagles need to prove they deserve to be at the top of the lowly NFC East. Heading into a gauntlet of five likely playoffs team in five weeks, the Eagles’ least difficult test awaits with the Browns.
That said, the Browns are a physical running team, who can control the clock and the scoreboard with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The Eagles will need to protect themselves from the Browns’ running attack by building an early lead.
However, the Eagles have struggled mightily to start games this season, and quarterback Carson Wentz has struggled in general. Eagles coach Doug Pederson is going to need to dial up a game plan that both plays to Wentz’s strengths and protects the quarterback from mistakes. That could mean that running back Miles Sanders serves as the centerpiece of the offense against Cleveland with the winter weather expected to impact the 1 p.m. ET matchup.
On the latest episode of the No-Huddle Show podcast, Eagles beat writers Mike Kaye and Chris Franklin discuss the offense’s struggles, Jim Schwartz’s standing as defensive coordinator and how the Birds can beat the Browns.
