Deming Youth Soccer League planning fall season
DEMING – The Deming Youth Soccer League is planning a return to play in the fall. DYSL prides itself as a recreational program through the support of parents and families and under the direction of Fabian Ortiz, league organizer.
“Our purpose is to provide our youth an opportunity to have fun,” Ortiz said. “We can do this by following our mission statement; To provide the youth of Deming with a safe and healthy environment for developing and enhancing their skills in the game of soccer.”
Online registration is open Through August 3, 2021. Late registration is from Aug. 4-10. “We have a new registration system, so a new account will need to be created,” Ortiz said. “Our registration link is https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/demingyouthsoccer. If this is your first time with DYSL, you will need to upload your child’s birth certificate. The link and updated information is also posted on Deming Youth Soccer League Face Book – please join. For security reasons, you will need to answer a basic question.
Deming Youth Soccer League is affiliated with New Mexico Youth Soccer Association/ U.S. Soccer. NMYSA works closely with the Governor’s office regarding COVID Safe Practices. Therefore, DYSL follows New Mexico Public Health Orders and All Together New Mexico COVID Safe Practices.
New Mexico Youth Association provides updates and DYSL will follow the updates. For example, currently, coaches who are fully vaccinated do not have to wear a face covering; all players will be asked to fill out a youth/attestation form – if fully vaccinated do not have to wear a face covering. A face covering can be cloth. Please see our Facebook page for information and updates.
Age divisions are U4, U6, U8, U10 / U11 and/or U12, and U14 (U means under and the number represents the age). Age divisions are created based on number of participants.
Registration is $60; this includes registration fees with New Mexico Youth Soccer Association, which is affiliated with U.S. Soccer; a uniform; either a medal or trophy; cost of upkeep for field/equipment; referee cost; and general cost. Discounts for Medicaid or trash pickup are available and will take $20 off. However, discounts are limited in number.
A tentative schedule will be posted and practice will start on August 16th. The season will run from September 18 to November 13. The game schedule is based on the Deming Public School schedule, so there will be several Saturdays we may not have games.
Playoff games for the older age divisions will occur toward the last part of October/November with playoff games occurring during the week as well as on Saturdays. Championship games will occur on the last Saturday of the season with all teams encouraged to have a cookout on the sidelines.
