City Harvest hosts annual High Holidays Food Drive to collect kosher food for Jewish families in need

With Yom Kippur around the corner, City Harvest is hosting its annual High Holidays Food Drive.

From now through Sept. 20, City Harvest is collecting kosher food items in order to help Jewish families across the city. Prior to the pandemic, the need for healthy and nutritious kosher food was in high demand, and that need has been greatly exacerbated by the outbreak of COVID-19 in the city.

All of the food that is collected during the food drive will go to 24 kosher food programs throughout the five boroughs that partners with City Harvest. Those who are interested in participating in the food drive can run a traditional canned food drive and collect non-perishable foods such as tuna, salmon, sardines, peanut butter, and beans in a central location by one of City Harvest’s trucks. You must collect 50 pounds of food or above to have it picked up. Those interested in participating can also run an online food drive through #GiveHealthy by building an online food drive page.
