Fauci blasts Joe Rogan after he told ‘young and healthy’ listeners not to get vaccinated

TV personality and host Joe Rogan is in hot water with Dr. Anthony Fauci and The White House – for yet another controversial remark.

On Friday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, he mentioned that if a 21-year-old is healthy, then the Covid-19 vaccine isn’t the most necessary thing.

“If you’re like 21 years old, and you say to me, should I get vaccinated? I’ll go no,”  Rogan stated in the podcast to his guest Dave Smith. “ Are you a healthy person? Like, look, don’t do anything stupid, but you should take care of yourself,” he continued. 

He also noted that if someone is relatively healthy and young, then “you don’t need to worry about this [ Covid-19 vaccine].”

Naturally, comments such as this have been met with immediate scrutiny from health and political officials.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the head of the US coronavirus task response team spoke to NBC’s TODAY Show on Wednesday to address Rogan’s declaration. And he didn’t shy away from pointing out the risks.

“You’re talking about yourself in a vacuum. You’re worried about yourself getting infected and the likelihood that you’re not going to get any symptoms, he said in the interview.

He also addressed that even if someone were to get infected, they still can jeopardize people’s health.

“But you can get infected, and will get infected if you put yourself at risk and even if you don’t have any symptoms, you are propagating the outbreak, ” said Dr. Fauci.

Kate Bedingfield, who is the communications director at The White House also weighed in on the matter to CNN’s New Day, saying, in part, “did Joe Rogan become a medical doctor while we weren’t looking.”
